Aberdeen boxer Boris Crighton beaten by Lyndon Arthur after brave performance

 

The Granite City-raised fighter was a last-minute replacement for the main event on Channel 5 and despite a battling display, Crighton fell just short against Arthur.

Aberdeen boxer Boris Crighton put in a battling display against Lyndon Arthur but fell to a points loss in Bolton.

Crighton, 29, was a last-minute replacement to fight former Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Arthur live on Channel 5 on Friday night.

Arthur was due to fight Braian Nahuel Suarez for the vacant IBO light heavyweight strap before the Argentine boxer failed a pre-fight medical.

Granite City-raised Crighton (10-2 answered the call to take on his sparring partner Arthur and was hailed by fans for his performance against the 31-year-old Arthur.

The fight was a 10-rounder and Crighton handled himself well, landing a flush right hand in the third round that rocked Arthur, despite normally competing at super-middleweight.
